BASIC CARE INDUCTION FOR NEW CARE WORKERS

Course Objectives

The Basic Induction for New Care Workers is designed for those who are new to the care profession and would like to start working before achieving the Care Certificate or other mandatory courses. Ideally, this course should be taken and completed on the first day at employment as part of the in house induction. The course is an abridged version of the Skills for Care’s Care Certificate.  This course gives a good background and foundation for new staff. The course contents are designed to cover basic mandatory knowledge required to work in care. The training course is required for all new care staff.

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of this course, learners must be able to understand:

  • How to communicate effectively within care sector

  • Meaning and concept of Confidentiality and Data Protection

  • Meaning and concept of Safeguarding

  • Meaning and concept of Equality and Diversity

  • Basic Role of the health and social care worker

  • How to implement duty of care

  • Basic health and safety principles

  • Basic hygiene and infection control principles.

Module 1   How to communicate effectively within care sector

Module 2   Confidentiality and Data Protection

Module 3 Safeguarding

Module 4   Equality and Diversity

Module 5   Basic Role of the health and social care worker

Module 6 Implementing duty of care

Module 7   Health and safety in an adult social care setting

Module 8   Basic hygiene and infection control

Assessment Methods

This course can be assessed by a wide range of methods, depending on the level and mode of study. Methods available include but not limited to the following:

  • Written Assignment

  • Observation

  • Multiple choice question (online only)

  • Professional discussion

  • Witness Testimony

Guided learning hours

An average of 10 hours is recommended for this course.
