Course Benefits

Course Objectives

This course helps those who work in health, social care or children and young people’s settings to understand key importance of communication in such settings. Specifically, the course helps care workers to understand how to identify and overcome barriers to communication with a view to meeting needs and communication preferences of service users.

Learning outcomes

At the end of this course, learners must be able to:

  1. Understand the meaning and concept of effective communication within their work setting

  2. Understand why people communicate in their work setting

  3. Identify barriers to communication in Health, Social Care or Children and Young People’s Settings

  4. Understand how to seek support and overcome barriers to communication

  5. Understand meaning and importance of confidentiality at work.

Module 3: Barriers to Communication

Module 4: Supports Service to Overcome Barriers to Communication

Module 5: Meaning and Importance of Confidentiality at Work

Credit Value: 3 (under the QCF framework)

 

Assessment Methods

This course can be assessed by a wide range of methods, depending on the level and mode of study. Methods available include but not limited to the following:
