Course Benefits

  • This course is adjudged a mandatory requirement for new care workers who are new to the care sector.

  • The Care Certificate is recognised by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) as a minimum standard that people working in social care need to meet before they can safely work unsupervised.

  • The Care Certificate is recommended by Skills for Care as a minimum standard for people working in social care.

  • It offers introductory skills, knowledge and behaviours to provide compassionate, safe and high quality care and

  • The Care Certificate can be used for credit transfer or Recognition of prior learning (RPL) to some knowledge criteria of the QCF (NVQ) Diploma in Health & Social Care.

  • The Care Certificate was a product of the Cavendish Report into care and endorsed by Skills for Care, Health Education England and Skills for Health.

Course Objectives

The Care Certificate is designed primarily for new care staff as the first set of mandatory training. It is also designed as a refresher course for existing staff who need to update their knowledge. The main objective of the course is to offer the care staff basic set of knowledge required to work and function well in the care sector. It provides underpinning knowledge that can be built upon in the course of their career.

To successfully complete the course, learner must complete 15 different standards as follows:

  7. Safeguarding Children

  8. Basic Life Support

  9. Health and Safety

  10. Handling Information

  11. Infection Prevention and Control

Assessment & Certification

Once you log in, you will have access to the lecture notes and additional learning resources for eachCertificate icon 1 of the 15 standards. After completing reading through the notes and learning resources and mark them as complete, you will be asked to undergo an assessment. You have to pass the assessment for all the 15 standards before you can be issued with your certificate.

You now have two options of assessing your knowledge and receive certificate. They are:

  • Multiple Choice test or
  • Written assignment

Multiple Choice test

The first assessment option is through 10 multiple choice questions which can be completed within 20 minutes. You need to achieve 75% to pass the multiple choice test/Quiz. The system will generate your certificate after you successfully passed the test and you can print off your certificate from your printer. You can also request a paper copy of the certificate, signed and sealed by us for additional cost of £6 per certificate. Written assignment

The second assessment option is through a written answer to questions or oral questioning. Upon submission of your written answer to questions, an assessor will be allocated to you who will assess your answer and give you feedback. If you are successful, your certificate and transcript will be emailed to you. Please note that we charge additional £5 per credit to cover wages of the assessor, if you choose this assessment option. Should you also required an accredited certificate from a national awarding body in addition to our own certificate, you will need to pay registration fee with the awarding body.

Course Duration

The course can be completed between 4 to 12 weeks depending on your work schedule

  1. System Error. question 61 to 70

    3

    The course is so educative. Am convince i can perform better as a carer and work unsupervised. However i notice quiz question number 61 to 70 are repeated questions with no mark attached to them, even if the student write the correct answers, its still mark wrong. i dont know if its system error. This has adversely reduce my score to 212 out of 230. i also noticed that question 21 was missing. i dont know if its from my end only. Thanks so much. Looking forward to get my Professional Certificate
