END OF LIFE CARE

Course Objectives

 This course is designed to help delegates understand the need to discuss death and to see the end of life as a natural part of the life cycle. Delegates will be helped to see that discussing death is therapeutic, empowering them to control their own life. It will look at the six steps around the end of life and looks at models of grief.  It looks at strategies to understand the grieving process and to understand that death can be dignified and a positive process.

At the end of this course, learners must be able to:

• Explain what the term End of Life means

• Discuss the different ways to deal with the End of Life.

• Identify the key points of the End of Life Strategy.

• identify and describe the 6 steps in End of Life care

• know about the End of Life Strategy 2008?

• understand the psychological stages of grief & explore your own feelings on death

This course can be assessed by a wide range of methods, depending on the level and mode of study. Methods available include but not limited to the following:

• Written Assignment

• Multiple choice question (online only)

• Witness Testimony
