Course Objectives

This course helps those who work in in health, social care or children and young people’s settings and other related settings or environment that may make them come into contacts with hazardous substances at work. The course teaches greater understanding of different substances, their associated risks, and effective control methods used to manage them.

 

Learning outcomes

At the end of this course, learners must be able to understand:

  • Meaning of hazardous substances.

  • Types of hazardous substances

  • Regulations and compliance issues with COSHH

  • Risk assessment and safety procedures.

  • European CLP Regulations (replacing Chemicals Hazard Information and Packaging for Supply (CHIP) Regulations as of 01/06/2015).

At the end of this course, learners must be able to understand:

  • Types of hazardous substances

  • Regulations and compliance issues with COSHH

  • Risk assessment and safety procedures.
